Today is my STRESS FREE ZONE DAY. I decided to take a break and clear my mind. Student life can get discouraging and I am prone to self-sabotage but you have to pick up the pace if you hope to survive your final year! I am definitely under a lot of pressure but I shall take the time off to regain my mental stability.
Sadly, it’s back to the books again tomorrow as my exams start in two weeks. However, I know that there’s only 29 days till summer and that gives me hope. In order, to make the transition from the dreary exam period to summertime a bit more smooth, I have decided to dedicate the next 30 days to things that make me happy. This is a 30 day challenge, whereby, each day I shall comment about something that makes me happy or made me smile, someone I truly love and appreciate, or anything that makes me stop and think how lucky I really am. The months of May and June usually turn me into a monster. Every threat to my study regime becomes my enemy. Sounds like war? Well, it is! But, I just need to get through this in as sane a way as possible. If you want, you too can join me on my journey.
I was inspired by these 30 day challenges that have been popping up all over the place. Unlike the ones on Facebook and other sites, this one is personal. Therefore, I’m banking on the fact that I will be motivated enough to complete it. However, you are more than welcome to try it out too. I’m sure that it will be a comforting collection of positive pick-me-ups by the end of it. I can’t wait to see the outcome of this and look back at my little project.
I shall be calling it the 30 day BLESSINGS challenge or 30BC (Acronyms are FUN!):
And this is the definition that I shall be using for the word blessings from thefreedictionary.com:
“Something promoting or contributing to happiness, well-being, or prosperity; a boon.”
So there it is. My own personal challenge which you are welcome to take too! If you do decide to embark on this challenge then link back to it here and I will include you in my blog post. Here are the rules:-
1) Write about something or someone that made you happy, or about a blessing (see description above) in your life, EVERY SINGLE DAY for 30 consecutive days. Where? On your blog, Facebook, Twitter, social media site, or even your own personal diary. You don’t HAVE to share your blessings. You just have to feel blessed.
2) Don’t worry if you skip a day, but it is more rewarding if you keep up with the challenge for 30 days straight. 😀
3) Start each post with “Today, I am blessed because…”
Today, I am blessed because…
…I have happy memories of people I love.
I came across this blog site today from WordPress.com’s FRESHLY PRESSED selection: While I Breathe, I Hope.
It’s really heart touching and conveys a situation that a lot of people go through – the loss of a loved one. The owner of the blog dedicated it to the memory of her father who passed away eight years ago after a battle with kidney cancer. I know, I know, that’s depressing stuff to be happy about. However, the site is a blessing in itself as it has helped this woman cope with her loss and helped others cope with the loss of this man who seems to have been truly loved by many people in his life. Not only that, but even other people who have no connection with this man, but are going through a similiar situation, have been comforted by this woman’s website!
Since her father died, friends and family have been passing on stories and photos about him, as well as words of heartfelt appreciation towards him. I don’t know her father, but I like to think he was a good man. And it makes me all warm, sentimental and nostalgic inside.
Therefore, today I have been reflecting on the good times I’ve had with the people that matter most to me in life and I feel blessed to have such memories. A memory evokes powerful emotions and can stay with you for a lifetime. I am blessed that when I am feeling a bit down in the dumps I don’t need to search far in my brain for memories of happier days. And when I am already feeling happy I can still look back at old photos and feel immensely proud to have had a history with such amazing people.
I just hope that when I pass away people will also have positive memories of me.
Love, peace and blessings,
PS. What was YOUR blessing today? 🙂
