30 BC – DAY 13

Today, I am blessed because…

I got a compliment!

My brother and I decided to audition for film extras in a Maltese-Norwegian production being shot this summer. We went to the casting this evening. The whole process only took about 15 minutes until we filled in their forms, asked some questions and got our photos taken. The people were really nice to us and one lady stopped to have a chat with me as she liked my make-up and my eyes. I tend to over-look compliments as I get a lot of them and I sometimes wonder if they’re often a form of small talk. However, I’ve been taking every compliment I get lately. I’ve been this way since I turned 21 and started to feel like I am getting old. Just last week I realised that I am old enough to have a nine year old child! That is depressing to think about. So as soon as this lady complimented me I thanked her and started talking about eye-liner and make-up techniques according to the shape of the eye. She really seemed appreciative of the advice and genuinely interested. I’m glad I could help her and get some nice words out of it at the same time! 😉

PS. I know these blessings posts probably remind you of primary school essays, but I am really enjoying writing them. You guys should really try it out!

30 BC – DAY 12

Best bro in the world!

Today, I am blessed because…

I have the best lil’ bro ever!

He really lights up my life. I can’t imagine a day without him. And if I had to go abroad to work and/or study I think I would miss him the most. I know this might embarrass you but I really love you bro. Don’t you forget it!

How are you BLESSED today?

30 BC – DAY 11

Today, I am blessed because…

there are people who enjoy my company!

I love getting text messages, emails or phone calls to go out, even though I may not always act like I do. During exams, I feel like going all loco on people who actually ask me out because I would be under so much pressure that I don’t want to ruin my hard work. I am a major daydreamer and not very self-disciplined so I try and avoid going out before exams or other important events. I get distracted too easily so I just ban the good stuff from my life and focus on what I WANT! This is how I function and all I want is for people to understand. Everyone handles stress differently. Some people go out and then come back home and fervently finish off their work or study until their next outing. This is impossible for me as I get distracted a lot so I need to study slowly and surely without worrying about where I’m going out tonight. However,  I am still grateful that there are people who enjoy my company and want to hang out specifically with me. It makes me feel wanted and loved. Major thanks goes out to all those special people who include me in their plans, even when I’m yelling at them because I am trying to cram study notes in my tired brain and working out past exam papers! I love you all.

How are you BLESSED today? 🙂

30 BC – DAY 10

Yummy recipe from MarthaStewart.com 🙂

Today, I am blessed because…

I never go without food.

It pains me when food goes to waste. I always try and finish the whole plate even if I am full. And when I know my mum may be preparing a meal for us and I’m not hungry I make sure to warn her so that she doesn’t cook for nothing. However, I sometimes like to buy extra food (usually snacks) just because I want something different or feel like a sinful treat. Stuff like chocolates, cupcakes and ice cream seem mighty tempting when I’m studying or stressed. I know these snacks may be fattening or unhealthy to consume all the time, but I am sort of lucky that I can actually afford these things. Therefore, whether I eat a snack or a full meal, I try and moderate my consumption because I know it is healthier to do so and I know that I am lucky to even afford all the food I need in the first place.

30 BC – DAY 9

Today, I am blessed because…

it was a beautiful day!

Sure, I was stuck inside studying but in the morning I got to enjoy the sunshine during a driving lesson. I also ran some errands just to get out of the house. But the best part of all was that I didn’t have a headache like in the last few days due to the bad weather. Now, if this good weather sticks until after exams then I will be really blessed! May is usually a hot month in Malta but it’s been a bit cold here. Who knows what June has in store? *fingers crossed*

30 BC – DAY 8

Today, I am blessed because…

I have a loving mother!

The more I get older, the more I understand the sacrifices my mum made when raising my brothers and I. Mum is stronger than people reckon she is, and she is definitely an inspiration to me. She’s tough to please but that makes me try harder, which is never a bad thing. I don’t have a sister so my mother is the person I can share certain fears or problems with. I trust her advice and her judgment. I also admire her capacity to love and her kindness.

And there is one more thing I love about her…

…She provides me with perfect blends of tea, yummy snacks and fruit salads while I am studying, and I don’t even need to ask!

THANK YOU MUMMY! I would be living in a stink hole and eating the last few cans of baked beans in the cupboard if you weren’t around.

How are you BLESSED today? ^-^

30 BC – DAY 7

Hey, hey, hey!

If you’ve just come across my blog, I would like to welcome you to the end of my first 30 BC week. The acronym 30 BC stands for 30 Day BLESSINGS Challenge. Every day, for 30 consecutive days, I am writing about something that makes me feel blessed — happy, grateful, alive, appreciative.

It has only been 7 days and it hasn’t been easy. The first three days were fine but when you start getting those bad days you really don’t get in the mood for positive thinking. What got me back up again was this poster I found yesterday:-

It sure is! How easy it is for us to make an effort to be sad and waste all our energy on worries. Why can’t we make the effort to be happy, to not take things for granted and to feel blessed? A lot of us don’t want to admit that we’re happy or don’t believe that we are. It’s almost easier for us to admit we’re sad, worried or under pressure. A positive step towards being happy only involves a little courage and commitment. Take that step today and you will thank yourself later for it. After all, your courage can be your little blessing of the day.

So here’s to my first week of blessings! If you want to check this week’s blessings out just click on my previous blogs. Meanwhile…

Today, I am blessed because I can write!

How delightful it is to grab a pen and scribble your thoughts on paper. I always try and carry a pen and notebook with me, just in case inspiration strikes! Writing is very dear to me. I express myself better in writing than in speech. Put me in a debate and I am absolutely useless. However, leave me alone with my pen and paper and I can make magic.

Writing also helps me relax and clear my head. I can put all my ideas on paper without fear of losing them due to my short term memory. I also write to understand what I am feeling or to make sense of a situation. It comes easy to me but I know that not everyone knows how to write. Therefore, I cherish this skill and talent as a true blessing.

How are you BLESSED today?
